How to fold shirts correctly after ironing - Tips from the TUBIE Shirt Ironing Team

Perhaps you have already asked yourself how to fold shirts or blouses properly after ironing so that they remain crease-free for a long time. We from the TUBIE shirt ironing machine and ironing dummy team have dealt with this topic many times. After all, nothing is more annoying than having a neatly ironed shirt creased again due to incorrect folding. Furthermore, the correct folding technique is very important when travelling, because we from the Shirt Ironing Doll Team know that a well-folded shirt can also survive a trip in the suitcase without creases. If you follow these tips, you will save yourself double the work:

First of all, it is important that you button the shirt completely and place it on a smooth surface such as a table with the button facing down and the arms spread out. Then you should carefully smooth the shirt so that it is wrinkle-free. Because we shirt and blouse ironers know that the less wrinkles there are when you fold it, the smoother it will be afterwards.

Now take one sleeve and pull it towards the centre of the shirt. Then fold a straight fold about 5 cm next to the shirt collar, parallel to the front button placket. Now take the sleeve and fold it down, with the outer fold along the folded edge. Now smooth the shirt out again and repeat this process with the other sleeve. Now the shirt should be folded into a narrow rectangle. Now fold the shirt upwards and fold it in the middle so that the bottom edge is flush with the shoulder part. Before you put the shirt in the wardrobe or suitcase, make sure once again that the shirt does not wrinkle. With this folding technique, the shirt should arrive at your destination without any problems. If a few small wrinkles have appeared in the suitcase and there is no iron at hand, you can hang the shirt or blouse on a hanger in the hotel room and hang it in the shower cubicle after a hot shower; the warm steam will then smooth the good piece again.

However, we generally recommend hanging the shirt on a hanger after ironing it on our ironing dummy, because this way it is guaranteed to stay wrinkle-free in the wardrobe.

Stay wrinkle-free - your TUBIE iron-on doll team.
