It's bitterly cold outside and our warm down jacket is used every day. But how do you get a dirty down jacket or a musty down coat smelling fresh and clean again? Of course, you can simply take it to the dry cleaners, but that takes time and is relatively expensive. We from the TUBIE ironing mannequin and ironing machine team are happy to take matters into our own hands. But to make sure nothing goes wrong, you should keep the following things in mind.
It is important that the down item has plenty of space and freedom of movement when washing in the washing machine. The washing machine should have a capacity of at least 6 kilograms and not be overcrowded. We at Hemdenbügler recommend washing the down jacket or down coat alone in the machine. We recommend the "Delicates" program, as the water level is quite high on this program and the drum moves very little.
Drying down jackets or coats is more difficult, as the garment should never be spun and will be dripping wet after washing. If you hang such down jackets up dripping wet, the drying process will take several days and they will eventually start to smell like a wet dog. You also have to shake them every now and then to prevent the down from sticking together. If you have a TUBIE shirt ironing machine, you have a clear advantage here, because the drying process with our ironing machine takes about 20 minutes and the down is only blown dry and shaken by hot air, so it doesn't clump together. The down jacket or down coat is quickly dry again and smells fresh and fragrant.
Stay warm, your TUBIE shirt ironing team
