Pimping up old clothes - tips from the TUBIE shirt ironing doll team

Especially now in spring, many people want a little change to start the new season fresh. We from the Bügelpuppe team know this too. You go to the hairdresser, tidy up your own four walls and, above all, go shopping. But it doesn't always have to be something new, as we shirt and blouse ironers find. You can also jazz up old clothes very well and, above all, super simply. If you give your old clothes a little makeover, you can not only save vast sums of money, you also get unique items. For example, we from the Ironing Machine Team like to venture into old jeans often.

Design your own vintage jeans

Basically, you don't need much. A good pair of scissors and a wire brush are all you need for the transformation. Brush your old jeans with the wire brush until they have a hip used style. If you want a few rips or holes, just take a pair of scissors and go wild on your jeans. If you're into a more rocking version, you can easily decorate your jeans with rivets to iron on. If you combine the jeans with a stylish used-look belt, you'll have created a great one-of-a-kind piece.

Give shirts and blouses a new look

We at the Shirt Ironing Machine Team work a lot with shirts and blouses and know that the collar shape plays an important role. You can easily create a new style from a boring blouse or an unspectacular shirt with a little skill and simple sewing knowledge. It is enough to simply make the shirt collar smaller or larger, because then the blouse or shirt already looks completely different. If you like it feminine, you can sew a little lace to the collar and a conventional ladies' blouse will look modern again. You can also remove the collar completely from women's blouses and give them a cool neckline. But even if you just add other buttons, you have created a new garment.

Simply dye old clothes

If sewing is not one of your favourite tasks, you can achieve a lot with colour. We at the Ironing Machine Team have experimented with dye from time to time and know that although dyeing is more our thing than sewing, you still have to be careful that you don't get a nasty surprise afterwards. It's easiest with cotton fabrics or natural fibres, polyester or nylon fabrics are more problematic.

Unfortunately, dyeing dark clothes lighter usually doesn't work so well. Faded black clothes can, of course, always be dyed a nice dark black. Light-coloured clothes can usually always be dyed darker, but pay attention to the seams, because not all seams are made of natural fibres and may not be dyed properly.

Convert long shirts into a bodysuit

If you have old shirts that are too long for you, you can easily make a bodysuit out of them. Simply use a slip as a template for the lower part of the long shirt and cut off the too long sides with scissors. Sew the resulting triangle neatly around and attach two press studs to close the bodysuit easily.

Embellish jumper

A simple mouse-grey or white jumper can quickly be transformed into a hip designer piece by sewing on artificial pearls or glitter stones from the craft shop. Combine the jumper with a mini skirt in a bright colour and your outfit will be an eye-catcher.

Have fun crafting, your TUBIE Shirt Ironing Doll Team
